This series was another commission work that was requested after the opening of my solo exhibition in 2018. The client wanted a 9-piece series, similar to the Series 2 works in mathematical principle, but also wanted it to be constructed using just black lines.

What I came up with was this modulating set of works, each of which consists of a 2 inch square overlaid on a 5 inch square overlaid on a 9 inch square. Even though the structural patterns in all of the pieces are identical, each piece has one set of lines missing, allowing the negative space to determine the visible patterns. The missing sets of lines undulate from one piece to the next, giving each piece a unique orientation, while keeping them all connected.
