The Dream Study Experience was a project that came together after a chance encounter with the musician Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def). After he had seen some of my work while he was on tour in Dubai, we discussed creating a collaborative work together, integrating audio and visual elements in a unique experiential setting. The ultimate manifestation of that initial conversation was The Dream Study Experience, where visitors would enter a darkened room one at a time and listen to an unreleased musical track by Yasiin Bey while viewing the octagonal artwork that I had created to compliment the audio.

The idea of the project was not just to connect the two sensory experiences in a unique way, but also to promote a more deliberate and focused absorption of the works. Neither the music, nor the artwork would ever be publicly released, so this was the only way to experience either. By only allowing one person at a time in the room (and taking their phones and cameras away), each visitor knew that they were the only person in the world having that experience at that point in time - and that there was no way to record it other than to be fully in the moment.
