After having spent most of the fall of 2020 working on my first painted piece (2020.11.13), I wanted to revisit the use of ink on paper on a smaller scale. Whereas I usually spend a lot of time pre-planning the mechanics of each artwork – this one is unique in that it was mostly improvised in the moment.

I knew I wanted to explore the triangular shape, so I thought it would be interesting to use the three colors from the RGB color model – Red, Green & Blue. I had also started experimenting in the previous artwork with creating curvatures through hundreds of slowly shifting straight lines and this was a method I wanted to experiment with further. From these initial parameters, I started the artwork and decided on new directions it would take as each layer was completed. By using extremely fine point pens (0.2 mm width), I was able to create extremely faint lines and mesh-like transparencies to each layer.

This work was my first foray into three-way symmetry and the prominent use of curvatures.
